We affirm Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light and that no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). Jesus is the head of the Church. Our love for Him fuels our commitment to advance Christ’s cause as we unite to exalt, seek and make Him known (Eph. 1:22-23). We will love and value each other as Jesus would, live with biblical integrity, and rely totally on God’s guidance and strength as He transforms us and our campus. In all we do, Purdue for Christ affirms the following as truth:
We believe that the 66 books of Holy Scripture as originally given are in their entirety the Word of God inspired and wholly without error in all that they declare and, therefore, are the supreme and final authority of faith and life.
We believe that there is one God eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that he hears and answers prayer; and that he saves from sin and death all who come to him through Jesus Christ.
We believe in the complete deity of Jesus Christ, his complete humanity, his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, vicarious substitutionary death on the cross to provide our redemption, atonement for the sin of the world, and make salvation available to all who repent and believe. We believe in his literal bodily resurrection and ascension to Heaven, present ministry of intercession for us, and his future, visible, and bodily return to earth in power and glory to judge the living and the dead ruling over an everlasting kingdom.
We believe in the deity of the Holy Spirit, that he performs the miracle of new birth in an unbeliever and indwells believers, enabling them to live a godly life that would otherwise be impossible if attempted in our human efforts. We believe that the Holy Spirit is responsible for the quickening from death into life and for the continuous work of sanctification in the believer.
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that by voluntary disobedience, through the first Adam, fell from perfection, thereby imputing sinfulness to all human beings, becoming alienated from God. Sin cannot be removed by human merit and the price of sin is spiritual and physical death.
We believe that salvation from everlasting punishment and adoption by God are secured only by a personal belief in the person and work of Jesus Christ, that He died on the cross for our sins and was resurrected, defeating death. One must repent of sin and thus definitively receive Christ through the Person of the Holy Spirit into one's inner being, declaring submission to His Lordship over one’s life. This is to receive eternal life and to be sealed unto the Day of Redemption. This is accomplished by grace through faith, not by human merit.
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, a spiritual organism of born again believers who are called to be identified with Christ in baptism and to remember His death in the Lord's Supper. There is a spiritual unity between these believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. All believers are called to live in the world, but not of the world. All believers are also called to evangelize, fulfilling the Great Commission discipling, baptizing, and teaching the ways of Jesus.
We believe Christ’s resurrection ensures the resurrection of all believers who have received God’s gift of eternal life. We also believe in a resurrection of judgment in regard to unbelievers who reject the gospel.
We believe that God created human beings – male and female – as co-equal bearers of the image of God. Gender is divinely designed, part of the goodness of creation. Human sexuality is a gift, intended to be expressed exclusively in a monogamous, lifelong marital union between one man and one woman. The Bible also affirms the sacredness of the single state and that some may have the gift of lifetime celibacy.
